So I tried to email myself the highlights I made in The Lean Startup in iBooks. That didn’t seem to work, so I made a note and that emailed to me just fine, but with no reference to the content I highlighted or the page where I made the note.

If this is the book industry’s way of asserting some bizarre concept of copyright, fuck you book industry.

And if this is iBook’s developers not getting to an essential feature just yet, get off your butts!

But since you can’t copy and paste from books downloaded through the iBooks store, it’s clearly a DRM issue and my former point holds.

Update: I’ve confirmed that non-DRM books in iBooks support copying text and emailing highlights, so this is 100% a DRM issue and I’ve therefore just bought my last DRM book. Assholes.

Now this is smart (I guess except for the fact that they seem to have crashed their website with all the publicity). The publishers behind Game Dev Tycoon released a pirated version of their game developer simulator:

In the pirated version, the in-game developers begin to run into crippling piracy that eventually drives them into bankruptcy.

In-game CEO’s receive this message:

“Boss, it seems that while many players play our new game, they steal it by downloading a cracked version rather than buying it legally. If players don’t buy the games they like, we will sooner or later go bankrupt.”

And, of course:

After the first weekend, the company had 3100 gamers playing the cracked version, with 214 playing the genuine edition.
